A Better Tech Company

WannaJava is currently focused on cross-platform app development using Google’s Flutter and Dart technologies. The ability to write a single set of source code that compiles down to native code for Android, iOS, and the Web is a rare gift. Add to that the ability to share user authentication and app data across these platforms using Firebase, a cloud-based back-end system, and we get highly efficient, effective apps that pop!

Even though we’re delving into the latest tech, it does not mean we’re new to the game. We’ve been around since 1996! We’re here for the long haul – always evolving, always leveraging the best of new technologies, and always paying it forward.

We believe that in order to find technological solutions to some of humanities greatest problems, technology must be freely available and accessible to everyone. We’re busy developing courses in the Java programming language to teach the basics of programming to anyone interested in learning, in a fun, interactive way.  Stay tuned for more!

The Seattle Appseattle waterfront

Emerald City. Seatown. The Rainy City. The Coffee Capital of the World. Whatever you know Seattle for, you’ve got to love it! Whether you’re just visiting or you’re a Seattle native, The Seattle App can help you celebrate it all with a randomized slideshow of regularly updated photos of Seattle, along with links to more info and location data.

Use the app to find someplace new to explore. Make a game of it – have someone pick a number, tap the refresh button that many times, and head off to the displayed location. Or become a deep-dive armchair traveler by heading down the rabbit hole that starts at the “learn more about it” link provided with every photo.

The Seattle App is available on Android and iOS, as well as the web. It’s a great example of how app data can be updated without requiring the user to update the app. Photos and associated data are stored on and accessed from a network server. This demonstrates how a cross-platform, informational app can be updated dynamically, without special programming knowledge and without the need to deal with complex databases or expensive cloud services.

The photos all come from unsplash.com, where artists share their work with the world for free. You can join in the fun by uploading your own photos of Seattle to their site. We’re always looking for material. Find out more at seattle.wannajava.com.

Note: The Seattle App and WannaJava are not affiliated in any way with unsplash.com. We simply appreciate their willingness to host a website that allows artists to share their work with the world.
